In British Columbia, over 75% of medical physicians regularly refer their patients to a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) – and they make these referrals because massage therapy is both accessible and effective in the treatment of their patients’ conditions. Today, RMTs use a blend of modern science and ancient philosophies, utilizing specific techniques and modalities.
RMTs work with illness, injury and disability in diverse and broad patient populations. They are primary health care professionals that focus on disorders of the muscoloskeletal and related systems.Over the past decade, there has been a significant rise in the demand for massage therapy in BC. This can be attributed to higher educational standards, research studies showing the efficacy of massage therapy, and an overall increase in public demand for non-surgical and drug-free treatment options.
What To Expect & Massage Therapy Pricing
Your first appointment with one of our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) will give you the opportunity to communicate your physical goals and unique health situation. Each visit will be customized depending on your treatment goals, health status, training schedule, and massage preferences. Our RMTs are very capable of moderating tension, skilled at deep tissue work, but capable of a gentle therapeutic touch when necessary as well. They also often complement manual therapy techniques with instructions on home care stretches and basic exercise rehab. They are also trained in kinesiology taping and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilizations (IASTM), as well as a variety of massage techniques. Whether the appointment is for sports massage, pregnancy support (prenatal massage), or stress relief, the prices are the same based on time.
Please show up 10 to 15 minutes early to complete our initial intake paperwork (which is done on an iPad, as we are a paper-minimal office). Let the lovely ladies at the front desk know what your primary area of complaint is, how you found our clinic, and if you have any extended health coverage that you would like us to bill direct. We are able to bill direct for most major insurance companies, but it depends on your individual policy, so you may want to check in with your insurance company in advance.
